Lares, Larth, Lard = Lord. What is this about?

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE ELECT REMNANT WITH REFERENCE TO

"THE LORD" ----MORE IMPORTANT THAN REALIZED.

ORIGINS OF THE ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION

OF THE WORD "L-O-R-D" (what it really means)

[ In the main study on "God's" Name (previous page) we dealt with the Canaanite/Tyrian/Chaldee meaning of the word "Lord" in a Scriptural sense, and saw that it comes from the word "Baal" as a pagan god.  Since we covered the "religious" connection between pagan "Baal" and the word "Lord" in our previous study, we won't expand on the "Baal connection" here.  Quick reference "Baal" Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary. Scroll to "B" entry]  As if Baal (Lord) isn't bad enough, Atlas the crooked pagan god is also "The Lord".

Summarized points of interest in this study:

Going beyond the deity "Baal" and it's meaning of "Lord".

Misunderstanding of the Hebrew word "Adonay" leads to confusion.

Big business church god is "The Lord".

"Lord" and Old English Feudalism --  not based in Christ's liberty government given to us.

The word "Lord" has a mixed language origin, none Scriptural relating to Yahweh.

The Greek word "lordos" (crooked) and it's connection to the the pagan deity Atlas myth.

How the ancient Etruscan and Roman "Lar, Lares, Larth, Lard" enters into the equation. (these "gods" became English "Lords" by Roman invasion)

Dear elect remnant in Christ, please read this personal letter and pass it on to the faithful brethren in all humbleness of appealing to a discerning spirit within.

Down through the last several decades certain worldly church doctrines have increasingly been brought into the Saxon Israel Kingdom body of believers. Not divesting themselves of lingering false teachings of denominationalism, a vocal few refuse to forsake the name of the "god" of the misled Christian churches - that being, "The LORD".

It is without excuse at this point in time that such a profaning of the Holy Name of The Almighty would be held so adamantly by proponents of the "Lord" heresy. Yet prayers to "The Lord" are still rampant in our New Jerusalem of America.   Some  teachers of the "Lord doctrine" are yet further confusing the issue in that while they correctly reveal the Holy Name of the Hebrew "tertragrammaton" (Yod Hay Vauv Hay) as being YAHWEH, they then carelessly declare that we must announce that "YAHWEH IS THE LORD".  This is dangerous ground and possibly the most dangerous of all spiritual perversions, seeing that it is a direct violation of the first commandment "I am Yahweh thy god, --- thou shalt have no other gods before Me." [see the entire referenced exhaustive study on the previous page concerning the Biblical truth of the Hebrew word YAHWEH in opposition to that of the pagan word "LORD"-"BAAL"]

ADONAY and AWDONE  (New point of contention among Bible students)

For those still praying to "The Lord", a primary reason of their's for proclaiming "YAHWEH IS LORD" and seeing this as acceptable, is based on an incomplete, though unintentional misunderstanding of the Hebrew word "Adonay" which is regretfully translated in some Bible dictionaries as "The Lord". (Strong's # 136 for instance)  Citing such verses as Exodus 4:10; Psalm 35:23; Isaiah 38:14, etc., a faulty reasoning is assumed which supposes that since "God" in the Bible was actually at times called "Adonay" in Hebrew, then we therefore should call Yahweh "The LORD" in English.   However the use of our word pronounced "Lord"  began well after the adoption of the Roman origin of that word entered into the European religious mindset during the very early middle ages.

The English word pronounced "Lord" does not have its origin in the Hebrew "Adonay", but actually arose from our language becoming infused with the usage of several heathen deity associations - "Lar", "Lares", "Larth"  "Lard", "Lordos", and also  "Atlas".  We will connect the dots as we progress with this lesson.

True, the Hebrew "Adonay" can mean "Master", but it cannot mean the English "Lord" when one becomes aware of the true origin of verbal pronunciation of "Lord" in our English language.  In Strong's Concordance, "Adonay" at reference # 136 shows it as the English "Lord" but James Strong in 1890 was already taken in, along with the rest of the "Christian" world, by the then long accepted evolution of the Etruscan/Roman words "Lars - Larth - Lard" into the spoken English language.  James Strong, LL.D., S.T.D., did a wonderful job in organizing his concordance, but it isn't foolproof running maybe 85% correct.  Probably nobody else could have done such a great work in those years, but Strong's use of "Lord" in a few references was a mistake he could not have foreseen.

Since 1890, other Bible and ancient language texts have been unearthed that now aid and further refine our search for the Truth of Yahweh's Word.  Strong's by the way does point out that the all important root for "Adonay" comes from the Hebrew word "Awdone" (#113, 114) which correctly means "RULER-SOVEREIGN-POWERFUL-MASTER" and is accurately revealed as such in Strong's Concordance.

Thus, the clearly defined origins and theological meaning of the English word "Lord" is NOT synonymous to the English word "Master", NOR is "Lord" synonymous with the Hebrew application of the word "Adonay" rooted from "Awdone" when "Adonay" was used in the Bible as applied to Yahweh.  In those instances "Adonay" should be correctly translated as "sovereign ruler", but would be acceptably translated as "MASTER". However translating "Adonay" as "Lord" or even as "LORD" is incorrect and  easily leads to adulterating the Holy Name with a pagan deity as we will see by the end of the study.

WHO PRAYS TO THE LORD TODAY?

Another reason to cast suspicion upon the revering of "The Lord" today is by mere  observance of exactly who it is that prays to this "god".  Even though at times they use the names "Jesus", "Father", "Holy Spirit" and on very rare occasions "Yahweh", the false clergy of interdenominational churchianity and televangelism BY FAR more than any other term repeatedly  profess that their "god" is "The Lord".  Their cry "Praise The Lord" is championed far and wide among them.   That in itself should be enough to raise a flag about just who this "god" the "Lord" really is!   Couple that with the fact that it is well documented that the Name Yahweh (Yod Hay Vauv Hay -- YHVH) was replaced with the letters L-O-R-D in our English bibles nearly 7000 times, more wariness in using this term should prick the hearts of Christians who are seeking the higher calling. The Hebrew tetragrammaton corresponding to the English letters YHVH does not translate or transliterate to the English meaning of either "Lord", or for that matter even "Master" or "Sovereign".  The tetragrammaton is derived from the Hebrew verb "Havah" meaning "to breathe" and gives the idea of "The Everliving with self emanating life".   Although Yahweh (YHVH - The Everliving)) is indeed our Master in His ruling capacity (Awdone/Adonay), He cannot be "The Lord" as it is beyond doubt that "The Lord" is a pagan deity, and as well the deity of today's wayward churches that want nothing to do with the laws of Yahweh Almighty.

The argument is heard that "well, we really mean "Master" anyhow when we use the term "Lord" in referring to The Almighty". If they mean "Master", why not just say "Master" instead of verbalizing "Lord", with all of its spurious connections?   No brothers and sisters, it can only be out of a bad habit, a "church habit", that some will not relinquish their professing of the uncontrollable tongue to "praise the Lord".  This habit is not, though, for the elect remnant of contrite hearted Christians striving to have the full outpouring of Yahweh's mercy which we surely need in these corrupt times.  The remnant must be more diligent than others, and the Word itself encourages this. "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things (judgments) that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."  (Luke 21:36)    " Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." (Matthew 7:14)    "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive  the very elect." (Matthew 24:24)

As a people our nation has offended our Father way too much already, and it is not fitting for a Christian to continue in major offenses against the first commandment when the Holy Spirit has called us to repentance.

WHAT KIND OF RULER IS AN ENGLISH LORD ANYHOW?

Should our Savior be defined in terms that legally describes  a "FEUDAL SUPERIOR"?  The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is our King, Supreme Ruler, and Giver of our NATURAL BORN RIGHTS.  In opposition to His divine lawful administration, the term "Lord" is a feudal designation. The question is, "Is our King's rulership rested upon Feudalism?"  You know the answer.

In the past historical eras of feudal government it was not a time where men "Lords" ruled by a precious concern of the Christian liberty of a people made free by Christ.  Those English feudal "Lords" did not operate within a system protective of God Given Rights, rather under feudalism (like Communism, Socialism, or Democracy) the people's rights were discarded and they were granted certain privileges by the ruling state, who just happened to be their "Lord".  With feudalism it was the "state Lord" who considered you his property, and who gave you privileges to live as peasants under his "benevolent" reign.  Our beloved Savior is not an English feudal administrator.  The King of Kings is not a feudal English Lord, and the English word "Lord" should not and must not be used to describe the glorious government reign of Jesus Christ and His outpouring of NATURAL BORN RIGHTS upon us, the joint heirs to His Kingdom.

We, who by the mercy of The Almighty, have been set free from worldly bondage by the blood of Christ, are not vassals or peasants to any "Lord" according to the precise historical English meaning of that word.  Not only is it a tie with paganism to refer to Yahweh as "The Lord", ---  but it is an INSULT to His Crown and dominion of liberty He has given us as His sons and daughters, by attempting to associate His  Name with English feudalism.   Christ's liberty is not feudalism and Yahshua/Jesus/Yahweh is not an English Lord.

Moreover, the photo reference below ( as do many others) shows that in a Biblical sense the implication of the English title "lord" applies to a slave master or commercial profession owner. As noted in our previous studies it could also apply to a false god or to a tribal chieftain, or even a man made "House of Lords".  It can not correctly describe the government of Yahweh God.

Only by a distorted evolution of terms, did the English word "Lord" eventually come to be attached to our Savior King by definitions becoming twisted.  Those in the Christian Israel Kingdom message should know better than to ever refer to Yahweh Almighty as "Our Lord" (a feudal ruler).

ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION OF THE ENGLISH WORD "LORD"

The development of words in any language is almost always a very long process spanning many centuries. People that want an easy reference pointing to "one word" that within a few short years "became another word" are not aware of the etymology process in the development of a language.  It would be easy to say that "Lord" came from one simple word, but as with most words, it followed a slow process combining many origins into what we hear pronounced as "Lord" today.  This English word "Lord" resulted from a mixture of several ancient sources, none of which though began with any connection to the Living God of the Bible, Yahweh Almighty.

Presented herein are a few of the more "traceable" sources of our present word "Lord" and precisely how it is that our pronunciation of L-O-R-D became associated with a deity.  No linguistic source leading to our usage of the pronunciation "L-O-R-D"  has a Scriptural connection.

UNCOVERING THE  PRONUNCIATION ORIGINS THE WORD "LORD" AS IT SOUNDS TODAY

1) A few references are found  theorizing that the English word "lord" is possibly  likened it to the Old English  "hlaford", which in turn came from hlaf-weard = "loaf-keeper".

see    http://www.yourdictionary.com/lord  >>  (note: the reference is always feudal government, not God given liberty)

However it is a linguistic stretch to arrive at "Lord" from "hlaford". When we do the proper homework it is realized much more definitely that the evolution of "Lord" came from the Etruscan "Lar" which this study examines a little later.  But since there may have also been a "cross over adulteration " with the Etruscan "Lar" and that of Old English "hlaford", we will spend a few moments dealing with the Old English "hlaford" to see the origins of that term.

The term is Feudalistic in that men "Lords" (hlafords) were responsible for the welfare of their peasant subjects with the peasants having no real liberty.  A "good Lord" provided for his peasants and fed them as soldiers when they were "taken" (drafted?) to fight for their realm.  But do we really want to assign Christ as being a feudal king, and His government as feudalistic?  Our American Founders dumped the entire premise of European feudalism from North America in 1776 when they established the Christian Commonwealth Kingdom of Jesus as our form of government.  The Christian Patriot battle cry of our War of Independence was "No King but Jesus" and this was not a rule by hlafords, that is, by "Lords".

In analyzing this terminology, from the Bible we know that Yahweh is not a Feudal  "loaf-keeper" (hlaford) although some church types try to stretch this meaning to include Christ as "bread giver". Such a deduction is only an assumption considering that the Feudal system was never base on God given rights bestowed upon the faithful sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father.  Historical accounts of the period show the Old English loaf-keeper was at best a warrior chieftain over a clan of peasants who would rule successfully until a stronger "loaf-keeper" (Lord) came along and swiftly plundered the weaker Lord and his band.  Indeed, it was the feudal system of Lords that our American Christian Founding Fathers freed the colonial land from in 1776 with the War For Independence.

There is no Scriptural connection with the Old English "loaf-keeper Lords" of the Feudal system of government, to that of the Holy Reign of Jesus Christ, the author of our true liberty. A "hlaford", if this word even remotely did contribute to the evolved English "Lord", was a feudal baron term that has no rule of law in the Holy government of Yahweh.

2)   The history of Anglo Saxon paganism that developed into today's Wiccan witchcraft religion also contributed to the development of the present word "Lord".  Wicca belief stems from ancient Anglo Saxon paganism and the deities "Lord" and "Lady" are both Wiccan religious terms.

Quote: "Wicca is duotheistic (a.k.a. rarely as bitheistic): Wiccans often worship a female goddess and a male god., often called the Lady and Lord." (source, see  http://www.religioustolerance.org/wic_intr.htm)

3)  Many English words have a Greek or Latin connection.  "Lord" is one such word.  In Greek mythology the god Atlas is believed to hold the Earth on his back.  Contrary to this, the Scriptures tell us that Yahweh Almighty, the Creator and Master of the universe, has placed the Earth where science has now discovered it to be - in space resting upon nothing.  "He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing." (Job 26:7)

Atlas, the mythical god is pictured as a titan bent down under the strain of  supporting the world.  Atlas has an exaggerated crooked spine due to this labor.  Atlas' pagan task is the best ancient pronunciation connection we have to our English word "Lord" since the Greek word for "crooked" is "Lordos". See below

http://www.bartleby.com/81/8602.html

Yes, the English word "Lord" has a diety connection for sure, but it is not Yahweh of the Bible, rather it is by the pagan god Atlas whom the Greeks knew as a "lordos" crooked backed  individual due to his enormous job of supporting the Earth. - a myth.  Additionally, it was in early England that a "hunchback" was called a "Lord" (bent), again a direct correlation to the fable surrounding the Greek god Atlas which caused the "deity connection" with the word "Lordos".  (See below for hunchback/lord word relation)

http://www.holoweb.net/~liam/dict/L/LORD.html

Atlas Supporting The Earth -- a non Scriptural myth

The "pagan deity connection" to the pronunciation of "LORD" in our English language comes from the Greek pagan god Atlas

who's spine was "Lordos" (Greek for 'crooked') from his enormous task.

Yahweh Almighty is never depicted in the Bible as straining under load causing Him to be a "lordos" or a hunchback from the Greek term absorbed into the English language.  Yahweh is not the pagan god Atlas, and may Yahweh bless with mercy and healings, individuals having spine problems of this sort.

4)   But let's continue further with the etymology of the English word "Lord" because the Wiccan witchcraft religion adopted this word "Lord" from yet earlier ancient sources.  These ancient sources lead us to the words  "Lar, Lars, Larth, Lard" which also developed into the later English word "Lord".  These words, as well, had a past Greek tie in that they are pagan Etruscan, and the Etruscan language had Greek influences.

Our readers may access the Word Study Tool Lexicon at Stoa Consortium Online, and see that an Etruscan word "Lar" became our English word "Lord". Other sources will reveal the same.  The intermediate bridge between "Lar" and "Lord" was the word "Larth".  These all mean the same thing.      Quoting, we see below :

"Lar or Lars , Lartis, m., I. a prænomen of Etruscan origin (in Etruscan, usu: “the prefix of the first-born, while a younger son was called Aruns. The name Lar, Lars, or Larth was an honorary appellation in Etruscan, = Engl. lord): Lars Tolumnius, rex Veientium,” Cic. Phil. 9, 2; Liv. 4, 17, 1; 4, 58, 7: “ad Lartem Porsenam,” id. 2, 9 (nom. Lar, Charis. 110 P.)."   Note: Click "Show Lexicon Entry" at Elem..." on the below site:

http://www.stoa.org/hopper/morph.jsp?l=lares&la=la&prior=incultique#lexicon    " the gods of places, protecting deities, Lares"

So we now see that the pagan Etruscan Lar, Lars, Larth became "LORD"!

The Etruscan "Lars - Larth" became pronounced as the English "Lord" by a phonetic interchangeable usage of the letters "A" and "O"; also "TH" and "D".  It is well documented by language scholars that these letters were interchangeable in usage among  the European nations, languages, and dialects.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D   <<<(see dd = th under  Usage)  That is, Larth is pronounced Lord in old English.

From historical documents of the British Isles we can see that the interchangeability of "Lard" and "Lord" ( "a" to "o", visa versa)  was common in the language evolutionary process.   The below is an excerpt from a letter dated 1565 from James Stewart to the Lard (Lord) of Glenorchy.

"To our traist freynd the Lard of Glenwrquhy Traist freynd after our maist hartly commendatioun."  (To access the full document dealing with the Scottish Clan letters, see below link)

http://www2.div.ed.ac.uk/courses/Kate/clan%20campbell%20letters.htm

Lord, Lard, Lorde, Lardis, Lordis all being used interchangeably, have their root in the earlier "Larth".  As well, "bond" became "band" is also noted in the early English dialect showing the multi-use of "o" with "a".   See also Lord/Lard sentence usage:

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/euroleader/wedderburn/glossaryL-P.htm

http://www2.div.ed.ac.uk/courses/Kate/Kate%20-%20Lords%20of%20the%20Congregation.htm     (bands = bonds   lards = lords  as "a" & "o" were then interchanged)

THE DEIFICATION OF LARS - LORD

The association of a "Lars - Larth - Lard - Lord", initially a term applied to honor men, became deified early on in the etymology of the word.  As far back as the Etruscans' influence on the Romans in Italy, we see that a "Lar" or several (plural "Lares") were deities invoked on many ceremonial occasions under the religious rites of Roman life.  These "Lares" later became part of Roman paganism, and Roman households each had their idols known by this name.  These were Roman idols usually seen in pairs, thus the plural "Lars or Lares"---  which meant "Lord".

"With this belief set, every family or household was believed to be assigned a guardian spirit known as the Lar Familiaris (Lars). All family functions included these spiritual guardians in some form or another."    http://www.unrv.com/culture/roman-religion.php

In 55 BC Julius Caesar invaded Britain and the Etruscan/Roman influence began, including the language influence that was inevitable.  The word we know today as "Lord" resulted from Etruscan heritage passed on to the Romans who then advanced northward into Europe.  The Etruscans themselves were influenced by Greek language dialects during the pre Roman period of Italy. Language experts note that the Greek word "lordos" for "crooked" had an influence on early Etruscan association with pagan deities, "lordos" (lar, lars, lard) long having itself been associated with the deity Atlas.

SUMMATION

As we can see from these documented facts of early religions and early languages, the English word "Lord" never did have a Scriptural origin.  Rather the English word we now mistakenly use to describe The Creator, calling Him "The Lord", turns out to be a blatant violation of the first commandment, "I am Yahweh thy God, --- thou shalt have no other gods before me".  This problem is an ongoing one for our people.  It dates back to ancient Biblical days when "Baal -The Lord" was worshipped as the supreme deity.  This nagging spiritual plague of blasphemy was transported to the British Isles where the "Lars" of  Etruscan/Roman paganism becomes "The Lords" of English Feudal rulers, foolishly transposed to "OUR LORD" in early English Bible versions, and thus it continues today, as "THE LORD" is prayed to and sung about in unsuspecting Christian congregations all across America.

So dear remnant of Christ in these latter days, both the Scriptures and history record the fact that our Savior is not "Lord" (Lars, Larth, Lard ). Out of respect and reverence to The Most High should we be invoking this blasphemous title and pagan appellation?  Some word definitions we can debate and quibble about, but it is quite clear that in this case the word Lord crosses the line of any proper usage in our Faith. This matter is of such importance to Yahweh that He invokes a curse upon us if we stray into forbidden territory of spiritual adultery concerning which "gods" are found upon our lips in our spiritual prayers. "Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god.." (Psalm16:4)
