Via Matta's Charm and vitality flows in large part form the inspiration and vision of co-owner and restaurateur Christopher Myers. A life that has included stints as an actor, a Harvard doctoral student, a house painter (Ava Gardner's bedroom being the the crowning achievement of that era), and a crisis counselor, coalesced nicely into a job in restaurant management and development in 1987. Apparently retired from the restaurant business, Myers met a girlfriend from lunch at Michela's restaurant in Cambridge, MA. "I was so impressed with the place that I never left," he says. "I wish I could say the same for the girlfriend."

Myers has been in the business of fine dining for 20 years. He opened Radius in downtown Boston with partner and Executive Chef Michael Schlow in January of 1999. Considered one of Boston's best restaurants, Radius opened to critical acclaim and continues to receive high praise and distinctions from prestigious industry insistutions and publications including the James Beard Foundation, Gourmet, Food & Wine, Esquire and Fast Company. Prior to opening Radius, Myers was a partner at Rialto in Cambridge, MA, the 4-Star restaurant that he helped design, develop, and manage.

His education began in upscale, glitterati stops in Los Angeles including Charmer's Market and Michael's in Santa Monica. He moved on to Strattons's in Westwood Village, and worked with Sommelier André Fabre, a Wine Spectator Grand Award winner. Myers moved to New York and worked with Chef John Clancy for three years in the Village where he learned all about people and service.

Myers incorporates this deep appreciation for the finer things in life into wine list design, culinary training courses, and wine cellar development and his opinions on wine and business have been heralded in publications including Time, Inc., Business Week, The Boston Globe, The New York Times and Restaurants and Institutions.
